WATER HEATER
BY YEAR'S END
Riverside
and other area residents planning to replace a
water heater in the near future would be wise
to earmark some Christmas money and make their
purchase before Dec. 31. Beginning January 1,
2008, residents in the local Air
Quality Management District's (AQMD) region
(parts of Los Angeles, San Bernardino, all of
Riverside and part of San Diego counties) will
pay an additional $180 per unit over current costs.
The increased cost is the result of the
AQMD's command that manufacturers create units
that cut Nitrous Oxide (NOx) emissions. Stock
of the older model units is getting difficult
